Mitch was born in 1975 in Borger, Texas, about an hour north of Amarillo, and was raised in different towns around Texas from Corpus Christi, to Groesbeck, to Port Neches where he finally graduated and started on his personal journey in life.
From early childhood Mitch, the youngest of four siblings, was introduced to the western way of life; hauling horses and cattle with his grandpa to hangin’ out with his family and learning how to dance and enjoy music. It seemed that this was the lifestyle that was chosen for him.
After settling down in Port Neches, Mitch was invited to First Baptist Church of Port Neches where he attended youth and family services and made his profession of faith on May 19, 1991, at the age of 15.
Soon after graduating high school Mitch started his own journey and followed his own way. His journey led him to towns like Nashville, Tennessee where he pursued country music and had the opportunity to sing on stage at the Grand Ole Opry. He then found himself in Missouri on a family ranch working and training horses.
Mitch became a father in 2003 to twins, Landon and Logan and they had a tremendous influence on his life which motivated Mitch to seek a higher education. Mitch soon attended MCC in Waco, Texas and tried to find his niche in the Fire Service/EMT. After taking some college courses he chose a different path for his life.
Living single with the responsibility of raising twins Mitch left school to find more work. Three years passed and Mitch found a career in aggregate sales and also found a lasting relationship with his wife, Pauline, and started putting their family together. Mitch, Pauline, Landon, Logan and Sophie were now a family of five.
The family settled in the city of West, Texas which offered a solid foundation for Mitch and the opportunity to establish roots for himself and his family. Mitch finally had the opportunity to return to school and prepare for another part of his journey.
Mitch attended Texas Tech University and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Universal Studies in History, English and Communications. Mitch was studying to be a motivational speaker. After graduation, he followed up with a Certification in Alternative Teaching. Mitch was soon in the class room teaching Special Education for Mexia ISD in the Mexia State School program and then for the Waco Center for Youth.
After teaching for two years, Mitch was called into Ministry after attending and joining Top Hand Cowboy Church in Valley Mills, Texas. Mitch and his family had been attending services for six years and his entire family was led to salvation and baptized. Top Hand Cowboy Church offered Mitch the opportunity to grow and learn how to be a disciple for Jesus Christ and really offered Mitch an opportunity to be the cowboy he always knew that was within him and serve the Lord. Mitch’s ability to communicate and his passion for people allowed him to enter into the role of Growth and Outreach Pastor in becoming employed by Top Hand Cowboy Church.
Over the last couple of years while in that position, Mitch learned about what it took to lead study groups, lead individuals in their personal walk, pray with and visit with folks, and he quickly discovered there was a need to be met in the area he calls home, West, Texas and the surrounding communities.
Mitch, having a successful bible study at his house, was soon called to start his own Cowboy Church, HIGH POINT COWBOY CHURCH.
HIGH POINT COWBOY CHURCH started in July 2016 at the West Auction Barn and soon moved to the West Fair and Rodeo Arena at the Longhorn Clubhouse, WESTFEST Grounds. Mitch has been the lead pastor and continues to lead worship by using his singing abilities, his cowboy poetry, and mostly his motivational skills in speaking for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mitch still remains true to his cowboy roots and raises his family in Christ, including the newest addition to the herd, Josey.
Mitch and his family live in West and continue to help and be present in the community and promote the teachings of Jesus Christ.
